Homework Expectations and Links
Each day the students will be asked to complete at least 30 minutes of free choice reading as a part of their independent work each day, most students do this in the evening before bed. Homework will not be given every night, other than independent reading. Please have your child record the book they read and the pages in their agenda each night. If your student does not finish their classwork, it will be sent home as homework. Please let your children learn and grow through correcting mistakes and having productive struggle.
Some Assignments will be posted on our Canvas site - organized by subject and quarter. When students are absent, they can check to see if there is any digital work they can complete at home in Canvas. When they return from an absence, I will give them physical copies of any papers they missed while they are out. Students will be given ample time to turn in make up work, and to make up quizzes or tests they missed.
Our first class read aloud will be the novel: Refugee - I will read this as part of our Reading Block as a whole group activity. This book goes along nicely with our first Novel Study - Esperanza Rising.
Our morning meeting will be focused on inclusion and kindness, understanding and controlling our emotions, supporting one another as a classroom community.
